WG3 – ADVOCACY AND NETWORKING

  • Goals and work modalities: improve refugees’, asylum seekers’ and migrants’ MHPSS by establishing communication and relation with stakeholders, institutions, policy makers, public authorities, media, networks and individuals, preparing advocacy briefs and communicating CoReMH’s results and messages to relevant actors, promoting the work of the CoReMH, approaching new members, connecting to relevant networks, UN bodies, governments, and donors.
  • Subsections/topics (e.g.):
    • establish relationships with the media in order to avoid pathologizing or xenophobic rhetoric in the portrayal of people on the move and instead form a more positive narrative and to advocate for a trauma informed asylum procedure
    • generate informative briefs and disseminate them to relevant institutions and actors with the aim of influencing national and international policy in support of MHPSS
    • create layered networks (i.e., across cities, countries, and regions) to strengthen referral pathways and mitigate stress on limited professional resources
    • identify and conduct outreach for potential new members
    • create and manage social media accounts and a website and decide upon a logo
    • lead fundraising efforts and apply for funding for projects
    • network with existing immigrant and refugee communities
