WG2 – RESEARCH

  • Goals and work modalities: enable evidence-based practice and data and ethics driven advocacy work by carrying out stakeholder needs assessments and systematic literature reviews, designing and conducting collaborative research and dissemination of research results through publishing papers, research reports and advocacy briefs.
  • Subsections/topics (e.g.):
    • advance understanding of the complexity of trauma and resilience in the context of migration, create models of risk and protection that include contextual factors inherent in displacement; explore how can we build off of individuals’, families’, and communities’ existing resources and capacities to bolster resilience and wellbeing
    • conduct research in order to adapt interventions for the unique methodological challenges of the transit context (limitations on time, funding, role of interpreters and cultural mediators, and professional resources)
    • engage in efforts to make interventions more culturally-meaningful, accessible, efficient, and destigmatized by conducting research to inform their adaptation
    • assess the different aspects of the complex situation in which refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants live including: identifying barriers faced by people on the move in accessing basic health, social, and education services in transit and solutions to facilitate access as well as mapping needs, priorities, aspirations, expectations, and adversity activated strengths of people on the move
    • collect data on refugees’, asylum seekers’, and migrants’ mental health and psychosocial wellbeing consistently and continuously, which will allow trends to be identified
