PIN – Psychosocial Innovation Network team celebrated the successful ending of its project “Making a difference for refugee children in Europe” realized in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee. We are thankful to everyone who participated in it!
As a part of its IT workshops, PIN is starting a training for refugees on the use of Coursera website which includes consultations and learning assistance. PIN – Psychosocial Innovation Network has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SIT Study Abroad and will participate in “Duke Engage Serbia” summer internship programme. This way we wish to welcome the Duke University student who has started his two-month internship with us!
PIN participated in the panel discussion titled “Exodus of people” organised in the Mokrin House as part of the Slobodna Zona / Free Zone Film Festival. The event included a screening of the film Fire at Sea followed by a discussion on the migrant crisis and sharing of our experiences in providing psychological support to refugees in Serbia.
The panelists were Žarko Korać, retired University professor and national MP and Mirko Rudic, a journalist from the Nedeljnik Vreme and NVO Atina associate. Željko Bodrožić from Kikindske newspaper moderated the discussion.
Participation and integration are of utmost importance. As implementing partners of UNHCR Serbia, PIN – Psychosocial Innovation Network organised a visit to Mikser festival for a group of boys where they showed us the way they saw this event. PIN – Psychosocial Innovation Network, an implementing partner of the UNHCR Serbia, provides psychological support to refugees through our project “Provision of Psychological Assistance to Vulnerable Refugees in Serbia”.
In cooperation with IRC, PIN team participated in the making of a joint brief on the lives of unaccompanied refugee children in Serbia and the Balkans. Some of the fundamental problems that migrants report on as they continue their journey towards the EU are inadequate accommodation, poor education as well as frequent neglect from foster parents. Apart from feeling lonely, they feel that they are deprived of their elementary rights and are at greater risk of being exploited. PIN took part in The Dialogue Project – Migration trauma in transition: Exploring sociotraumatic roots of dealing with the refugees organized at Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo.
This project connects students and professors from Western Balkan universities with stakeholders and practitioners in refugee help as well as media representatives from countries involved in the Balkan refugee route.
Our team gave a lecture on Research in Social Trauma among refugees and participated at one of the experts group exploring vicarious trauma and burnout among helpers working with refugees.
